I read with grave shock the hatchet job done in the unfortunate pieces of words raised against Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu stating that "He sees himself as the anointed candidate of the APC". Since the return to democracy in 1999, Nigeria has gone through phases and only very few can understand that time has come for a renewal, reinvention, reintroduction and revaluation of Nigeria. An Igbo adage holds that only cowards blame their mother in the presence of her assaulter. This is an attribute of the weak, foolish and powerless. If you are a strong man or woman, whenever your mother offends someone, the person comes to you to plead for restitution or amends from your mother. Apart from the round leather game, these guys are largely useless to themselves and the country. We are proud of them when they played for the country in the game of soccer and it has to stop there. Their pride and honour on the field of play does not defeat the fact that a great number of them are illiterates and lack good judgement in a lot of social, economic and political issues. In the run up to the renascent democracy in 1999, the country was rich with expectations and wishes. They were all for the good of Nigeria after the military era. The games for the succession began and the intrigues ran through. Unfortunately, while the then junta was out to ensure transition from the military to civil rule, it was indeed ill prepared.
