AFRICA: SHALL WE PRAY! By KEMKA S. IBEJI

Image
KEMKA S. IBEJI  Oh spirit of the good Thee that humiliate the wise Who in their minds' eyes are all else Arise in our nation and reign Possess our leaders that they may know Oh wisdom so high and noble Pressing down the mountains Even of those who knowledge intoxicate Take thee heed and come down here Those who ran away return They that sent you off desire you home Our leaders poison their lordsdom They pride otherwise in serfdom Their sights're blurred than blindness They discern nothing except nothing Throwing away lordship for servitude Trashing freedom and living slavish Why die in a strange land ye sons of Africa? Why do worship thou thy haters? Why pray at the feet of these strange gods? Whither comes thy salvation? Never thither where your foes litter Not hither where lay their friends Not even in the sounds of their melody Wilth thou see peace Why not wake and work Walk the paths that lead to your being Being same with all in humanity

TO RETAIN THE VALUE OF YOUR NAIRA FOR TOMORROW. By KEMKA S. IBEJI

Image
It may sound like a fairy tale but it is the truth. Only a few persons who know this secret and have kept it have remained successful in keeping the value of their wealth intact. If you wish to also be wise as the very few successful persons as described above, you can follow this revered information. Many years in the past, One Naira (#1) was exchanged for about Two US Dollars ($2) or more. Sometime in 1988, Shortbread was sold for Twelve Naira (#12) but today it's sold for a Thousand Naira (#1,000), if not more. Few years ago, a Plot of land in Lekki was selling for Two Hundred Thousand Naira (#200,000) or less while estate agents and property managers begged people to buy. Today, if you are able to get same plot of land in Lekki for Thirty Million Naira (#30,000,000), you will definitely hurry up to deal. Of course, you wouldn't have kept your Naira in Dollars since then to conserve the worth. You also wouldn't have bought all the Shortbread then to resell t

BRIDE PRICE AND THE ENIGMA OF MBAISE... Written by KEMKA S. IBEJI

A certain man from Mbaise once had a daughter called Uloaku. He cherished his daughter that he could do anything to make sure she doesn't lacks the basics of life. Nna anyị Akondu was however not strong in his finances. He barely could afford so much as to keep his family fed. He struggled hard to be sure he could, at least, provide for the pride of his household. When he decided that Uloaku must go to the university, it was to all around him a chase for the impossible and a cutthroat decision. However, Nna anyị Akondu received the blisters of his choice but could tell the story of his success alive. Uloaku indeed graduated top of the class and retained the honor of her father Nna anyị Akondu. No sooner than she graduated from the university, a young gentleman came to ask her hand in marriage. Already, the young man was fed replete by the story of the exorbitant price of brides in Mbaise. He nevertheless could exchange anything to have Uloaku as, for him, she was everythi

ON THE DREAM OF TOLLGATES RETURN: MR. BABATUNDE RAJI FASHOLA SHOULD Resign. Written by KEMKA S. IBEJI

Image
Babatunde Raji Fashola  It is ridiculous, insensitive, unreasonable and absolutely irresponsible to think of returning Nigeria to the regime of toll gates and toll fees. One, there is hardship in the land already and any policy that can put more pressure on the citizens should be thrown overboard. Secondly, the fuel pump price raised transport fares and the toll fees will increase it the more and this will not be kind to our travelers and especially commercial activities in an economy that is struggling to be on her feet. Thirdly, the roads are already bad and such tolls will further deepen the sufferings of road users who will have to queue up for minutes and hours to pay for the tolls. Fourthly, the existing security situation in Nigeria does not encourage the toll gates. Imagine what is already happening with the check points as the criminals like armed robbers, armed bandits and kidnappers take over the spots when the Army and Police retire for the day. They use the op

TOLL GATES AND TOLL FEES: MISERABLE ENTERPRISE OF MISERABLE EARNERS... Written by KEMKA S. IBEJI

This is how lazy people struggle to earn living. They are usually not creative. Very dull in ideas and in thinking; stagnant heads. They live by/on extortion and are always miserable people. They are in different levels and class but they are just the same. Even Plato defined the state as man-writ-large. This simply means that the state is an enlargement of humans. This human being here in this picture is enlarged in the Ministry of Works and Housing led by Babatunde Raji Fashola (BRF). Who doesn't know that this is toll system? By trying to return TOLL GATES AND TOLL Fees, Babatunde Raji Fashola is one of them. They only think of how to exploit the people. If Babatunde Raji Fashola is not in government enjoying the flamboyance from government treasury, he would have been exactly like this helplessly lazy and hopelessly lousy dullard.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION: SPEAKER OF HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES RT. HON. FEMI GBAJABIAMILA DECLARES NIGERIA UNSAFE AND INSECURE. Written by KEMKA S. IBEJI

Image
The history of Nigerian politics will remember this year thickly. The season when the Lagos boys played at the central government. The year the Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives wore a bullet proof underwear to the independence day celebration. This is solipsism taken too far. Instead of making Nigeria safe for all, they now prefer to wear bullet proof underwear? These Lagos boys can be so cowardly anyway. So these guys even prefer to die in the office? So they see what they are doing as a do or die affair? But can someone please tell Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila that the best safety for one single Nigerian is safety for all. If he protects his chest, his head, neck, man triangle and legs are still unprotected in his brand of protection and safety. Nevertheless, all those unprotected areas are not less dangerous than the place he has chosen to protect. He is clearly unsafe even in his safety methodology. Why is Femi Gbajabiamila feeling unsafe? Who is frighteni

BBNaija REALITY SHOW, THE PHILOSOPHY OF WEALTH AND THE CHALLENGE FOR YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS IN NIGERIA. Written by KEMKA S. IBEJI

Image
Many will say and have said that BBNaija is useless and not profitable for anything and to anybody. I was also roundly abused by someone who has no understanding of what wealth creation is here. I didn't feel bad about his vituperations as much as I felt horribly stunned by his utter ignorance of the business idea from the program. I didn't watch that show as every other person did. I watched it a few times in passing and paid detailed attention to the business angle of it. I followed the business teachings of the BBNaija and will get back to it for confirmation of my findings. Of course, no two persons see the same thing in the same way. Many people watched the TV Show for different purposes but I wasn't against anybody for his or her passion. Passion is so personal to dabble into. Though we can weigh every action on the scale of morality, but the business morality one such different purview. It may not follow the ethics of ordinary behaviors. I know the difference

I FAIL IN LOVE AND ROSE FOR WISDOM. Written by KEMKA S. IBEJI

Image
I have failed many times Much more than all that know me I have fallen countless times All in my bids to rise I'm yet the smallest amongst them Who measure themselves against me I've been bruised, battered, worn out, Tired but never diminished Each fall has increased me A thousand more times and they know Those who pride of their prized accolades Every failure has raised my sight To great remarks that change the world And many others that will impact I have been mocked by many More by those who assess themselves By their temporal  acquisitions I have also got jeers from a lot Who place themselves at the center of perfection They in turn have only been mocked Shamed by my unabashed acceptance Yes! Of my weaknesses My imperfections, my frailties My ignorance and my being just me I've got strength in all It's the zeal to learn, to improve And to return to the battle front Never say die! My ignorance got me wisdom My weaknesses made m

NIGERIAN TEACHERS AND THE PROBLEMS OF LEARNING IN NIGERIA. By KEMKA S. IBEJI

Image
Interestingly, we have always come in contact with a lot from our teachers in Nigeria at various levels of education. Beyond being people to learn from, teachers are supposed to be molders of character. Sometimes, we wonder if the teachers we have come across in our days of learning are really qualified to be called teachers. Yes, teaching profession is a calling (in the parlance of recent Christendom). Teaching is not an all comers thing. But unfortunately in our country, there are no jobs and wrapped in the rate of corruption, people who have nothing to do around the institutions of learning are seen taking the center stage. When teachers become so arrogant and insensitive to the plight of the students and focus only on what they think they are and have achieved in their job, they miss the point and crux of the profession. No wonder teachers are no longer celebrated today. Many students do not wish to meet their teachers anymore or anywhere after school while many wish to m
