SOCCER STARS TURNED BAMBI ALLAH Written by KEMKA S. IBEJI
Apart from the round leather game, these guys are largely useless to themselves and the country. We are proud of them when they played for the country in the game of soccer and it has to stop there.
Their pride and honour on the field of play does not defeat the fact that a great number of them are illiterates and lack good judgement in a lot of social, economic and political issues.
I personally will urge them to toe the line of the Liberian soccer legend, George Weah, who went back to school and equipped himself adequately for leadership. These ones here are either gamblers or those whom business people use their names to arouse cheap funds from people and most times people are scammed by their names yet they have borne no responsibilities for their infamous involvement in all that sham.
Of course, it will be a national catastrophe to allow these less professionals in other areas of life to make political decisions for us. The simplest thing to do is to look at them critically and begin to work on their psyche that have been badly affected by poverty that ravages them after reigns on the pitch. We have a task to structure a mental outfit to cater for them and integrate them in the most appropriate ways into our relevant spots in the society. This is because they are intensely wanting once they stop playing football. Some of them can be retrained to go into raffia making, shoe making, fashion, dishwasher businesses, laundry services, welding, radio mechanics, motor mechanics and sorts of they can gain good skills in these areas when trained. Not forgetting that some of them are blockheads anyway. We understand.
It is therefore instructive for all Nigerians to see these folks, presently at best, as beggars who went out with plates to Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Even Tinubu himself, if not for the prejudices that contesting in an election weighs on the aspirants, should know that these ones are just bambi Allah and nothing more or less.
Nigerians should disregard them and accept them as what and who they are; expired footballers with tired ideas on sports. Our soccer is suffering almost at the center of it and these exhausted few cannot even contribute anything in their major national constituency being sports. If they lack the slightest knowledge as to add value to where they, all their lives, participated, how will they now know anything about national leadership as to lead Nigerians in endorsing someone to be our president? I mean, how?
Let all Nigerians help them to beg Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu that, though today is not rag day and though these gang of used heads are not students, he should help them with some crumbs so they can get out of the space for reasonable people to decide on who to lead Nigerians in Nigeria come 2023.
God bless Nigeria!
