ON THE ATTEMPTED DEMOLITION OF AKACHI EVIL MONUMENT: I STAND WITH THE GOVERNMENT. By KEMKA S. IBEJI

ON THE ATTEMPTED DEMOLITION OF AKACHI EVIL MONUMENT: I STAND WITH THE GOVERNMENT What is Akachi after all? Let's remind our people of what is called citizens' action. It happens everywhere in the world and it also happened in the government of Rochas Okorocha against Ikedi Ohakim's exit. A lot of structures and programs pit in place by Ohakim were once destroyed by the mob then. I think the grace on Ihedioha played out and reduced the impact so far. Owerri and Imo State especially known for the Citizens' Action. Beyond the one against Ohakim, one will clearly remember the Otokoto Saga and the resultant citizens' action. The houses and investments of those folks were brought down in one fell swoop. It is cultural in Imo State. This is some form of excitement by the lager population who see the government as having been returned to the people. Sure, democracy is defined as such. With even the angst against Rochas Okorocha's government and the surround

Remembering the Veterans of the Biafran Army. Compiled by Terhemba Osuji Lt Colonel Ojukwu Declared the Republic of Biafra on May 30, 1967. Immediately following that declaration there was mass mobilization of Biafrans into the army to counter the Federal Government which quickly condemned the declaration and immediately began directing army units towards Biafran borders to put down the rebellion. The Senior Officer Executive corp of the army including Ojukwu himself were made up of former officers of the Nigerian Army. The went about their task with zeal and under strenuous conditions to open several military training camps to handle the flood of patriotic recruits many of whom they had to turn away. The Biafran Army had only a few bolt action rifles at its prime arsenal in Enugu and its quick formation barely gave it enough time to organize or develop its fighting units before it was forced to weather an attack by the Nigerian Army at Garkem. Nevertheless, and despite

ALL HAIL BIAFRA; THE LAND OF THE RISING SUN. Written by KEMKA S. IBEJI

ALL HAIL BIAFRA; THE LAND OF THE RISING SUN ☀!  And the world keep mum The sun shed tears The moon was bleeding Three million children, women and men, old and weak were maimed, killed and murdered. Oh Biafra! Humanity lost value in Biafra and the earth trembled in belly full of blood. The blood of the innocent. The blood of virgins. The blood of the defenceless aged and helpless people. All hail Biafra the land of the rising sun! Today in our history will remain indelible. Many of our brothers and sisters died in their innocence. Many infants females were raped to death by the Nigerian soldiers and many family still bear the pains till this moment. It is indeed a cut in the palm; we see it at every hand wash. We celebrate not the joy we have in their grievous and gruesome murder but the anguish. Yes we celebrate the anguish, the pains and the dehumanization of a human race by another. We die to die and our death is the death of every man. Whenever you kill your fell

Nigeria’s war over Biafra, 1967-70. By Mark Curtis

Nigeria’s war over Biafra, 1967-70. By Mark Curtis An edited extract from Unpeople: Britain’s Secret Human Right Abuses The formerly secret files on the Nigerian civil war in the late 1960s show very clear British complicity in the Nigerian government’s aggression against the region of Biafra, where an independence movement was struggling to secede from Nigeria. This brutal civil war resulted in between one and three million deaths; it also significantly helped shape modern Nigeria, and not least the division of oil revenues between the central government and the regions and people. Background to civil war For those in Britain old enough to remember the war in Nigeria in the late 1960s, ‘Biafra’ probably still conjures up images of starving children – the result of the blockade imposed by the Nigerian government in Lagos to defeat the secession of the eastern region, Biafra. For Biafrans themselves, the period was one of immense suffering – it is still not known how many d

APPOINTMENTS: UNDERSTANDING IHEDIOHA'S IDIOM OF STEPPING ON TOES. By Ogu Bundu Nwadike, M.A

APPOINTMENTS: UNDERSTANDING IHEDIOHA'S IDIOM OF STEPPING ON TOES By Ogu Bundu Nwadike, M.A Each time I dedicate my short essays to ruminate over the much expected political appointments by the incoming governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, CON, KSC I receive an admixture of commendation and condemnation. However, I plead for understanding. I speak only like a fallible mortal, capable of being right or wrong with my opinions and views. As compassionate readers may attest to, my shorts essays are not official press releases for the governor-elect. Who am I? They are not! I only stimulate issues on the front burner of social discourse. Nothing more! Agreed, I may be assertive in some my short essays, but it's just because am involved to that extent. I thank those that commend my little efforts and apologize to those that feel offended and for that condemn me. Appointment into offices of government is one of the key issues on the front burner of s

ISLAMISATION AND FULANISATION; TOO LATE TO CRY. By Chilagorom Ifeanyi

ISLAMISATION AND FULANISATION; TOO LATE TO CRY. By Chilagorom Ifeanyi The warning from people like former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Chief of Army staff, Rtd General TY Danjuma and a host of others about Buhari's Islamisation and Fulanisation agenda is a little too late, I'm afraid. Those warnings are as useless as a man warning his household about a supposed impending fire outbreak after the fire has already gutted their house. Fact is, Buhari is currently not implementing any ethno-religious agenda. HE HAS SINCE FINISHED THE IMPLEMENTATION AND IS NOW CONSOLIDATING ON IT. And in fairness to him, he has never hidden the fact that he is an incurable ethno-religious hegemonist.  The only piece of information that will save Nigerians especially southerners and non-Fulani northerners now is HOW TO NEUTRALIZE THE ISLAMISATION AND FULANISATION OR AT LEAST SURVIVE THEM  because they are here already. When a President of a multi-ethnic, multi-religious and multi-
