WHY I DECIDED TO FUND THE PURCHASE OF NOMINATION AND EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FORMS FOR DR. OGBONNAYA ONU IF HE DECLARES TO RUN FOR PRESIDENCY IN 2023 By KEMKA S. IBEJI

In the run up to the renascent democracy in 1999, the country was rich with expectations and wishes. They were all for the good of Nigeria after the military era. The games for the succession began and the intrigues ran through. Unfortunately, while the then junta was out to ensure transition from the military to civil rule, it was indeed ill prepared. The preparation had no inclusion of any directional philosophy and what looked like it was well tuned to address the concerns and challenges to come.

The junta had a cursory carpentry of the constitution and such became the sickness of the governments to come. Bedeviling the political party that won power, the PDP began on a badly set out race and ran it aimlessly for solid sixteen years. The end of that sixteen years witnessed the drastic horror; an experience that held but will never happen again. Though the Goodluck Jonathan administration has been praised by those who know almost nothing about leadership and whose lives and thought systems have been shaped and conditioned by several years of misrule, it remains the worst among the bad many. That government washed off memories and obfuscated concepts. It introduced the worst level of national confusion that meanings became intractable. Anything meant everything then and known concepts were robbed of known definitions and could be seen as any other thing possible. That was a time when stealing was extricated from corruption and many other things as such.

It was speedy move on the cliff and Nigeria needed an almost magical rescue. Such time was when Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.) raised his hands again. He anchored his prayers to rule Nigeria on security and anti-corruption essentially. Those sounded like the way forward. But to me then, I was more interested in whoever could level the superstructure of Nigerian system and go further into the exhumation of the substructure. Reading through his background and prior escapades, I envisioned that Muhammadu Buhari was the best man for the job especially out of available options then. Though is was uncomfortable with his approach at some point, it seems my discomfort with President Muhammadu Buhari was more of means than end, approach than goal, processes than result. He obviously took another route but it now seems clear to me that we, at the end, are at the expected delivery point. Nigeria has been leveled to it sub-foundations and the dreams of then are met.

What is the next thing?

It time Nigeria from the scratch. It needs philosophy which will inform the new system building from bottom to top. Nigeria for the new generation must be saddled and paddled by a leader who will aggregate visions, dreams, ambitions, desires, cravings and yearnings into one nicely crafted system. The new Nigeria after President Muhammadu Buhari is such the every Nigerian must contribute in its building and so what is needed for such is a true leader who is dispassionate about self, ego and personal desires. The new generation of Nigeria must be led by a mind not swayed by ill-gotten wealth and unguarded avarice. It must be led by someone filled with contentment and moderation. Someone who is not interested in the existing illicit partitions of the country but eager to weld all aspects into one healthy whole.

To achieve all these in one leader, 2023 therefore needs someone who has a very admirable and appreciable attention span. A good listener, an attentive hearer and someone who will be willing to accept veritable views for the purpose of national good.

Among all those who aspire to lead Nigeria as her president in 2023, it is only one man who is in such class. That man is Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu. He has got all the necessary qualities to move Nigeria from where President Muhammadu Buhari is set to drop off. He is a good thinker, a great listener, a wondrous teacher, a patient observer, an astute synthesizer, a brave and critical mind, a creative figure and an innovative frontrunner.

Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu represents a character that is worthy of emulation by the new generation of Nigerians. Brave, creative, humble, loyal, trustworthy, reliable, resilience, persevering, poised and not shaken by challenging times. He is an obstinate innovator and unabashed attentive man. The leadership of Nigeria in 2023 requires someone who will put his or her ears to the ground, listen and sieve facts with which the expected new grounds will be founded and structured into a modern society of Nigerians.

It is our fervent prayer that His Excellency, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari finds it real and most appropriate to bring forth Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu as the able and most fitting successor to preside over the affairs of Nigeria after him in 2023.

If you consider the quality of aspirants who have either indicated interest or whose names have been mentioned in relation to the leadership of Nigeria in 2023, you will have no other option than to agree with me that Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu is the King among leaders. It is for this reason that I have offered to fund the acquisition of his Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms once he agrees to contest for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2023. We need his savvy stance, his wisdom, his wide knowledge, his great acumen and acuity, his creativity and innovativeness in the foundation crafting and creation of the new Nigeria of our dream. In all this need, we very humbly request our dear President Muhammadu Buhari to favour Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu as his worthy successor come 2023.

God bless Nigeria!
