ROCHAS CAME, SAW, BUT WAS CONQUERED! By Ogu Bundu Nwadike, M.A.

ROCHAS CAME, SAW, BUT WAS CONQUERED! By Ogu Bundu Nwadike, M.A The saying is: "I came, saw, and conquered". Every waking, walking and working day, living people inevitably "come" and "see". What may not be similarly certain is the concept of "conquering". I mean that it's not all that "came" and "saw" that "conquer". I found a formula for that my line of thinking. "All must come and see, but not all   that came and saw manage to conquer"! Please, permit me to use the two-term, eight-year tenure of the out-going Imo governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, as a case study for clarification of my topic in this short essay. In the simplest summary, Rochas came, saw but failed to conquer. In fact, he was conquered! That fact negates all nice cosmetic tags his media handlers may hang on him. They are on their. To them, Rochas is "Hero the Hero", "the last man standing", "the defend...

CHIEF VICTOR OYE, PLEASE RESIGN. By Hon. Ejikeme Alozie-Nwagboso

CHIEF VICTOR OYE, PLEASE RESIGN. By Hon. Ejikeme Alozie-Nwagboso I wish to urge the National chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Victor Oye, to resign forthwith. Not only should you resign, the financial accounts of the Party should be audited immediately by a reputable auditing firm. If any claims of obtaining by tricks, in whatever manner, fashion, or form, can be established against you, you should be prosecuted. This is not personal, but for the collective interest of the Party. There’s so much smoke, and fire must be somewhere. It is on record that you, as the National chairman has led the Party astray, and corruptly too. The Party is more divided today, than ever before. Accusations of highest bidder sales, indiscriminate disqualifications, mismanagement, mixed messages and painfully, a lack of leadership on organizational and critical issues have been rife, and the ship must be righted. And, it starts now. Your wingmen, I believe, will come swi...

HOW OLD ANAMBRA STATE BECAME MORE DEVELOPED THAN OLD IMO STATE. By Prof Okey Ndibe

HOW OLD ANAMBRA  STATE BECAME MORE DEVELOPED THAN OLD IMO STATE By Prof Okey Ndibe On February 3, 1976 under Lt. Col. John Atom Kpera as Governor, the defunct East Central State was divided into Anambra and Imo States.    While Anambra later got split into two, namely Enugu and the current Anambra, Imo also produced Abia State. As at the time of the division, the foundations for socio-economic development seemed to be more robust in the parts that became Imo than the parts that became Anambra. In terms of urbanization, Oguta in Imo State earlier got urbanized even when Nnewi in Anambra was still a complete rural area. But today, Oguta is rural while Nnewi is urban. Orlu also became cosmopolitan when Awka was simply an enclave for traditional blacksmiths. In 1954 alone, the Eastern Regional Administration earned about forty-eight billion pounds from the export of palm produce obtained principally from the areas that became Old Imo State. The establishment of Adapa...

HOW DO WE OPEN THE EYES OF OUR GOVERNORS, THE NASS MEMBERS, THE NLC AND THE MASSES TO UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS TIME TO REMOVE EVERY FORM OF THESE FRAUD LADEN PETROLEUM SUBSIDY SCHEMES AND TOTALLY LIBERALIZE THE DOWNSTREAM OIL AND GAS SECTOR? By Dr. Nnaemeka Onyeka Obiaraeri

We need to state the following incontrovertible facts that are not refutable: 1.Continuous retention of the Petroleum consumption subsidies in any kind of forms in Nigeria breeds the vilest forms of corruption, inefficiency and wickedness that benefits only the few facts cats within the corridors of power, while  impoverishing majority of Nigerians . 2.Nigeria is the only country within its contiguous neighbourhood sphere that has continued to retain this fraudulent petroleum consumption subsidies schemes that fuels corruption, distorts our economy and funds the consumptions of our neighbours via smuggling. 3.Nigeria is the only country amongst her contiguous neighbouring countries that has deliberately refused to totally liberalize her w...

DEAR PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI! By KEMKA S. IBEJI

Image
DEAR PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI! Security, Education, Health, Power, Economy and especially Exchange, Petroleum or Crude oil, Subsidy, Refineries, Automobiles, Government Contracts, Employment, Federal Mortgage (FMBN) and National Housing Insurance Scheme, Pension Administration, Banking, INEC and Elections in Nigeria and a few others are areas we feel were ravaged by corruption and we waved and drafted you into power on your offer to solve the problems hinted. We thought that the Boko Haram issue would have stopped by your introduction into Aso Rock Villa on May 29th, 2015. But instead of that happening, we got more burdened with an addition of more purveyors of insecurity. Now beyond Boko Haram we have the dreaded killer herdsmen in the parlance of your Lai Mohamed. The terrorists have enlarged their coast in your watch Sir. We were expecting that your entry would announce sanity in our security network, diminish corruption there and grant us sound security to flush out the me...

A SALUTE TO A NATIONAL HERO, MAJOR ISAAC ADAKA BORO, FIFTY-ONE YEARS AFTER. By: Godknows Igali, PhD

Image
A SALUTE TO A NATIONAL HERO,  MAJOR ISAAC ADAKA BORO, FIFTY-ONE YEARS AFTER. Until the Treaty of Paris of 3rd September 1783, General George Washington and the other Leaders of the thirteen colonies who waged and an Eight-Year Revolution against King James III of England and the British Empire were regarded as rebels; with prizes on their heads. Typically revolutionists are often regarded as villains by establishment, but often esteemed as heroes by those whom they stand for. But it is very few, like the name, Major Isaac Jasper “Adaka” Boro, who combine both accolades of honour and appreciation from both sides. It was impossible for one with fire in his bones like Major Boro to keep quiet in the face of the atrocious drift in post independent Nigeria at the time. One common character of revolutionist is that they place their beliefs and commitments before their lives. So idolized, venerated and immortalized in the South-South of the country as a revolutionist of first grade, ...

HOW APC IS INTENSELY EMBARRASSED IN IMO STATE DURING THE 2019 ELECTIONS AND NOW. By Mr. Evan Duru (El-Doctore).

Image
HOW APC IS INTENSELY EMBARRASSED IN IMO STATE DURING THE 2019 ELECTIONS AND NOW The biggest embarrassment Imo APC caused themselves is making alternative choices when their NWC have taken decisions in the overall interest of the party. The NWC gave wavers of safe return to their parliamentarians but their state arm went for double dealings and lost miserably. The NWC instructed on delegates to the national convention but Imo APC went with double delegates hence the tug of war while Mr President was upstanding at the arena, now the NWC are trying to punish the culprits. It is unfortunate not returning Hon Austin Chukwukere, Hon Chike Okafor and Rt Hon Ben as a team. The only consolation is sending Owelle and OUK but theirs hang in a balance. Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba is on a mission beyond representation, so, ndi South-East should rally around DSP Ike Ekwerenmadu and forget the party he belongs to since the elections have caved in to usher representation. South east as a wh...

EVERY MAN CREATED ON EARTH IS DESIGNED TO MAKE GREAT IMPACTS AND POSITIVELY AFFECT HIS GENERATION. By Dr. Nnaemeka Onyeka Obiaraeri

EVERY MAN CREATED ON EARTH IS DESIGNED TO MAKE GREAT IMPACTS AND POSITIVELY AFFECT HIS GENERATION As a kid in primary school,  I used to hawk soda drinks and fish  rolls along Otamiri  river to assist my parents. As a fresh college student at Emmanuel College Owerri , I used to follow my mum to the Eke Onuwa Market Owerri to sell garden eggs and tomatoes and attend to the farm every weekend with her . I made small savings at that time and was the most buoyant of all my siblings even in poverty . I later graduated to  become pool office manager in my  senior secondary school days . As a fresh college graduate at the age of 16 , I taught in secondary schools and combined it with farm labourer works to make ends meet . As a graduate with excellent honours degree (by miles the Faculty Best Graduating Student  in the College of Business Administration comprising of Two Schools and Five Departments)  I used to combine my teaching job with farm w...

I AM THE UNDISPUTED FOUNDER OF THE ALL PROGRESSIVES GRAND ALLIANCE - APGA. Chief Chekwas Okorie

Image
I AM THE UNDISPUTED FOUNDER OF THE ALL PROGRESSIVES GRAND ALLIANCE - APGA My Book on the conceptualization and formation of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA is work-in-progress that will come with details on the background, motivation, vision, ideology, agenda, challenges and the actualization of the noble and historic objective of founding APGA. However, the mischievous and deliberate distortion of the history of APGA especially by persons who are basically smitten by unprovoked envy and malice have compelled me to narrate a brief historical account of the formation of APGA in order to set the records straight and avail the unwary public with the incontrovertible truth about the formation of APGA. The strong desire to found a national political party based on Igbo initiative motivated me to rally a few associates on the platform of Igboezue Cultural Association which I founded in 1991 with the Motto of Onye Aghala Nwanne Ya (Be Your Brothers Keeper) to embark on the...

SUICIDE! Written by KEMKA S. IBEJI

Image
SUICIDE 'Twas a beautiful morning The day, though yet to break But light shimmers tears The smiling morning suddenly darkened It darkened out of the ears and not the sight We could hear darkness though we see the breeding light The air brought the news One has died! Died of his hands And a thousand questions throng How? Why? And for what? He is weak, one painfully muted But I find it difficult to accept this I rather would think it is strength to kill oneself No! It is indeed weakness! Seems strength when you think the act Really weakness when you see the reason Appearance against reality. Hear some of the reasons; I'm tired of life He is depressed I can no longer face it It is difficult to continue I think I can never succeed The loss can't return It is weakness to die And don't doubt it please Who is strong and can't face it? Who is powerful but surrenders? Strength speaks to life Weakness is for death by self Yes! Even de...

OZOMKPU VICTOR OYE'S LEADERSHIP AND THE COLLAPSE OF APGA. By Ifeanyi Chilagorom

Image
All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) as a political party in Nigeria, was found by Chief Chekwas Okorie in collaboration with a few leaders especially from the Igbo extraction. In 2003, Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu was made her presidential candidate to attract Igbo population into APGA. It was bandied that APGA was for the growth and development of Igbo nation. Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu became the face of APGA as Igbos trooped into the party.  As a matter of fact, there was a time in Nigerian politics when APGA was trying to take over almost all the Southeastern states. Every candidate produced by APGA during any election was seen as a competent, reliable and people oriented person and he/she must not have any corrupt record. The Igbo political elites and the masses used APGA as an umbrella to produce decent, competent, trustworthy and capable politicians who understood the exact problems of the people. APGA was growing as a national party but with regional str...

A SUCCESS GUIDE FOR YOUNG AND WOULD BE ENTREPRENEURS. By KEMKA S. IBEJI

Image
Make money, get rich and wealthy Talking to young people these days has turned one of my serious areas of focus. I have chosen this vocation because of what it has to do for our people and our society as the days go by. One can simply say that I have ventured into mentoring program for the young people. I didn't address it as mentoring but every meaning is in context. Perhaps my recent concentration is a foray into mentoring. Born in a moderate home where people will think it is all rosy for you most times comes with a huge challenge. Many who are also born into lower homes have also complained about the same challenge that most perceived rich children a faced with. The truth is, the world is a playground for all and opportunities abound for everyone. Most times I have seen graduates who left school for years roaming the streets seeking for jobs. A lot of them were actually the best students while in school. A lot of them get despaired and start growing issues around the...

MORALITY, LAW AND RELIGION: A DISCORDANT SYMPHONY AND A DISORDERED CHOREOGRAPHY! By KEMKA S. IBEJI

Image
MORALITY, LAW AND RELIGION: A DISCORDANT SYMPHONY AND A DISORDERED CHOREOGRAPHY! Religion and the Law were birthed for the health and safety of morality. Morality is that pedestal upon which we segregate the good from the bad and the right from the wrong. While on the one hand morality thrives on Categorical Imperative, the others - religion and law - operate on the frequency of Hypothetical Imperative. Defining both imperatives in the parlance of the German philosopher Immanuel Kant, "Categorical Imperative would be assertions which represent action(s) as objectively necessary in itself apart from its relation to a further end. And Hypothetical Imperative however are those that declare a possible action to be practically necessary as a means to the attainment of something else..." (Copiously quoted from Andrew F. Uduigwomen). From the foregoing, the inference is that Categorical Imperatives simply outline moral codes or just state good and bad actions but nothing mo...

MY LITTLE WORRY ABOUT BIAFRA (EPISODE II). By KEMKA S. IBEJI

Image
Having been at the forefront of Igbo agenda for few years now starting from my undergraduate days in the University, I have come to realize certain things that have kept me more worried than ever about the Igbo nation. All along, it seemed we have been engaged in a movement but have never bothered to know either our steps, our timing or our plans. It merely seems we only know our destination. However, it would have not been a problem as it has become now if we actually know our destination. Perhaps one would have been consoled with or by the Machiavellian maxim of "the end justifying the means". I got more worried when I turned around to ask my friends in the struggle questions on our assumed destination. Honestly, no one seems to know for sure where we are headed. It is obvious that everyone seems to know what light is till you are asked "what is light? ". I am sure almost everybody will begin to understand the need for details. It is for this reason that I...
