20TH OCTOBER, 2025: THE DAY THAT PRESIDENTIAL INEXPERIENCE BROUGHT RESTIVENESS INTO THE FEDERATION CAPITAL TERRITORY. Written by KEMKA S. IBEJI

I had always believed that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will make a serious mistake as the president of Nigeria. He and almost 90% of Yoruba people are not versed about Nigerian politics but a lot of people will argue about this. The Yoruba has a developed environment and it's normal that such people don't easily go out. This is not their fault but it's a reality.

Most of them do their primary, secondary and tertiary education within the Yoruba states and never travel out of Yoruba land. Those who are lucky to have experience beyond the Yoruba land within Nigeria are those who undertake the NYSC Scheme outside Southwest. This also usually happens to them when they fail to get posted to their states.

Others who go out of Yoruba land are those who go to London or a few other countries and if you have been close to the Yoruba people, just like some of us who are "Lagos boys", you can predict them.

Just as they're trooping into Abuja now and are busy doing real estate businesses, I can also assure you that if Bola Ahmed Tinubu is defeated in 2027 or he serves a second term and leaves in 2031, they will deinvest from Abuja and run back. This is the truth because they have comfort within their environment which has been a bit very comfortable and conducive from the precolonial period.

Now the foregoing explains why they have limited exposure to the feelings and behaviours of other aspects of the country except those who live with them. Of course, the attitude of a man who lives in your land is different from that of a man who you meet either in a neutral space or in his own domain. So the Yorubas have been meeting Nigerians within their own domain but the coming of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the president of Nigeria is a new experience to them.

The idea above is the reason I foretold that Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu will definitely make a remarkable mistake that may take him out of blacklist the Yorubas in the national politics after him.

One of such mistakes is about to happen. Just like what happened when the Niger-Delta Militants were made to visit Abuja for the first time and the entire country changed for it. They saw tremendous developments in Abuja for the first time in their lives and kept shouting that their land where the money was coming from was abandoned. That led to massive actions and increased tension in the security and insecurity of Nigeria and especially the Niger-Delta. Nigeria has never been the same after then.

This government of the APC led by Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu is again making another of such mistakes. I just opened my social media apps now and I am seeing the #FreeNnamdiKanu #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protesters in Abuja. Chai!

Tinubu has allowed an opportunity for the Unknown Gun Men and the agents that have sustained insecurities in the Southeast to visit Abuja. They have known the route to Abuja and they will stay in places in Abuja within those protests. They will have the opportunity to study Abuja and know places to stay or hibernate and breed their operations in Abuja.

Unfortunately, from the 1st October bomb blaster to the Nyanya Bus Stop mayhem, Abacha Barracks disaster, to the Wuse 2 blast, the tight security which Abuja the FCT was known for has been speedily evaporating. Now we hear of kidnapping in Abuja and right at the heart of the Federal Capital Territory. It all started with Goodluck Jonathan then got even worse with Muhammadu Buhari when cows could roam the expressway in Abuja and everyone would have to wait for the cows to pass the major roads before humans could begin to move. We all stood still for the, once acclaimed, children of Buhari. Now Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken the insecurities to the next level.

But this development is going to be remembered. One of the videos showed where some of the protesters have been rendered stranded by the Nigeria Police Force who ceased their motorcade that comprised mass transit vehicles. Their faces don't look like people who just came in from within. These folks must have come from far away and probably the Southeast. Now that they're stranded, they will get into the city properly.

This mistake is going to harm the government of Tinubu and that's what I meant because I know he lacks the exposure required for a Nigerian president. He also doesn't understand the necessary diplomacy of the wider Nigeria. He only knows how to command Lagos and build an army of neocolonialists.

It will be interesting to watch some of the videos of the current situation in Abuja to understand how a president is now carrying arms against his own government. Fighting militants inside Abuja will be a disaster for him and the entire country. Bola Ahmed Tinubu is vehemently clueless on the political culture of Nigeria and it now seems his traducers are going to fight him with the face of his own brethren. If they fix him against the Igbo people then it will be a Yoruba against Igbo then the peacemakers will be his enemies. I wonder what type of peace he will get.

It seems his time is about to be up but I'm worried for the fate of Nigeria and Nigerians after this experience.
