I read with great dismay the news item from rocklandhousetv an article from one of the heroes of Ebola virus. The story line struck me with such astonishment that I have refused to stop asking myself many questions about Africa and her leadership. Are we really willing and ready to grow Africa beyond the relics of backwardness and ruins? Do our leaders nay politicians understand what sacrifice and dedication mean? By 2004, Chief Victor Umeh conspired with Ojukwu and Peter Obi and they overthrew chief Chekwas Okorie in a bloodless coup at a hotel in Enugu. After the coup, chief Maxi Okwu who was the deputy national chairman south, and next to take over in the absence of Chekwas Okorie was deceived by Umeh and Peter Obi to join them against Chekwas. Maxi Okwu joined and went to court to testify against Chekwas thinking that he would emerge the national chairman of APGA. But he was used and dumped. Remembering the Veterans of the Biafran Army. Compiled by Terhemba Osuji Lt Colonel Ojukwu Declared the Republic of Biafra on May 30, 1967. Immediately following that declaration there was mass mobilization of Biafrans into the army to counter the Federal Government which quickly condemned the declaration and immediately began directing army units towards Biafran borders to put down the rebellion. The Senior Officer Executive corp of the army including Ojukwu himself were made up of former officers of the Nigerian Army.
