AN ORGANISM ANNOUNCED ROCHAS OKOROCHA WINNER OF A SENATE SEAT IN IMO STATE.

Do we now ask God to save us from the Nigerian judiciary?

If what we hear about the judgement in favour of Rochas Okorocha is true, it clearly send the message that there won't be any point campaigning in Nigerian elections anymore. All you need to do is just to get your criminals handy, kidnap and force the returning officer to announce you winner.

The foregoing is an implication of any judicial pronouncement forcing INEC to issue Certificate of Return to Rochas Okorocha of Imo State.

Human person is defined by the features and ingredients of freewill. It's for this reason that foetus and children who have not got discerning mind, the prisoners who have lost their freedom are not referred to as humans in the philosophy of human person.

For this reason, it's also a dehumanization to unlawfully deprive anyone of his or her freedom. Freedom however is an intrinsic child of freewill and so deprivation of freedom is same as deprivation of freewill and therefore a deprivation of humanity. Ceasing ones freedom is a dehumanization, violation of human person and dignity.

Upon this, one can frankly and truthfully aver that the professor Ibeawuchi who announced Rochas Okorocha winner of Orlu senatorial zone election under duress wasn't qualified as a human person during the announcement. He lacked freedom and freewill in the act and so not qualified as a human being as the time of that announcement.

From here many legal inferences can extricate. Is there anywhere in the Electoral Law where such action can be performed by the dehumanized? Can any other organism apart from a human being - a citizen - perform such function?

In fact, I think that the nation, if Nigeria regards life, should by now be talking about the criminal who dehumanized our kind being put behind bars and not what we are presently focusing on. How do we build a society where people reduce their kind to mere irrational animals that will do biddings without any of their cognitive inputs.

I hope the other parties will quickly stay the execution of this inimical judgement by the Abuja High Court. I'm optimistic that the Appeal and Supreme Courts will be sane and responsible.

Let's not turn further our population into a community of idiots!
