WISH IT AWAY TO YOUR OWN Peril! Written by KEMKA S. IBEJI
It's unfortunate how our people play into the hands and plans of their acclaimed enemies yet cry for the position they find themselves.
Agreed that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the IPOB movement have great importance in the defining of ndị Igbo in present day Nigeria, their play remains at the level of the concept of "nuisance value" in politics.
We ndị Igbo needed that to situate themselves in the state of affairs in Nigeria. For the South-West to gain Nigerian Presidency in 1999, the Odua People's Congress (OPC) did the game of nuisance value for the Southwest. And we should not forget that the blood of their son MKO Abiola was part of the sacrifice.
For the South-South to have an opportunity of the 13% derivatives and subsequently allowed a shot at the Presidency through Goodluck Jonathan, the Niger-Delta militants gave them the nuisance value. Today, Igbos of Southeast are behind the Southsouth in Nigerian politics. The South-South were our own minority in the Eastern region but today they have liberated themselves and have thwarted the national political tripod of Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba (wazobia). They now have a stronger voice than ndị Igbo. Why did that happen? It is a choice to define yourself and not let another person define you.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the IPOB are very valuable to ndị Igbo only if they can use their impact to negotiate the best for our people else it is all useless and fruitless. Who is deceiving you that Nnamdi Kanu will bring Biafra with what he is doing? He is fighting wars when his interest is to end war. Yes, it is usually the case with wars, it is fought for peace but soldiers and armouries don't bring peace. Peace is secured by diplomats on the round table. The soldiers are never there, they only hear that there is peace and should down their arsenals and they simply do. This is not a fairy tale.
Even if Biafra needs independence from Nigeria, it can never gotten anymore by fighting only on one front. Of course, wars are fought with strategies and not just one strategy.
Let those who are backing and opting out of national politics know that their wishes of Biafran self-rule will always be discussed and not to be gotten through the barrel of guns. We have tried war and we know where it kept us. The next best is diplomacy and politics. We must now call and awake reason.
Those who are saying that Igbo Presidency 2023 project is a nullity and a fruitless pursuit are the real enemies of Ndị Igbo. They are the real slaves of the North. They are the real people who have bowed to their enemies. They are the people who should be more ashamed. Igbos are never cowards. And it is only cowardice that can make anyone to say that Igbos cannot rule Nigeria because one foolish northerner with unclean gworo teeth told him no Igbo can rule Nigeria. Even these very responsible and highly regarded northerners are aware that it is the turn of the Igbo to be president and they are waiting for ndị Igbo to take a decision. Those who are saying otherwise in the north are the insignificant and unimportant group.
Igbos are the real leaders of Nigeria. From the colonial days to Nigeria's independence in 1960, Igbos have decided power in Nigeria. Of course, no particular region or political zone makes the decision alone, it is usually through alliance and Igbos have always made the alliances that define power in Nigeria. It is in the history.
We who are real Igbos, we who are not slaves to the said Hausa/Fulani hegemony, we who are brave and courageous Igbos have started the movement. We are aware that if we stay motionless, lizards may take us for logs and climb us at will. We have set the motion and the truth will be told to all.
It is the turn of the Igbo nation to mount the Presidency of Nigeria. It is now our right and not a privilege or gift anymore. The Southern Nigeria has the next turn of Nigerian Presidency and only the Southeast has not tasted it in the South since the renascent democracy in 1999. The Southwest have governed Nigeria through Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo. The Southsouth have governed Nigeria through Dr. Goodluck Jonathan. But the Southeast are yet to govern Nigeria and 2023 is the date. Keep it for us! Keep it for the Southeast.
Let me sound the note clear and vivid, if Nigeria must have peace and prosperity, if Nigeria must know and live on equity, if Nigeria must be a name to be remembered by good history books, a southeasterner must be the President of Nigeria in 2023.
Let me also sound it loud and clear to all Igbo brothers and sisters who have remained in the loom of skepticism, igbo Presidency 2023 Project is a reality. It is the dream of life and esteem for all Igbos. It is the life wire of our pride as a people. It is our definition as humans in Nigeria. It is the super definition scale of the entire Nigeria. Anybody who ignores it, plays it down, wishes it away, or speaks against it is our real enemy whether within or without.
Now let all men and women of good conscience rise up for the truth. It is the turn of ndị Igbo to be the President of Nigeria in 2023.
God bless Africa!
God bless Nigeria!!
God bless Ndị Igbo!!!
