OBIDIENTS: A NEW NIGERIAN IDENTITY Written by KEMKA S. IBEJI

From the ashes of Nigeria

From the abandonment of the olds

From the destruction of the land

From the relics of our frazzled greatness

From the trampled sum of our grace

From the disgrace of our pride

From the desolate feat of our heroes

It's yet a time to resound hope

It's yet a time to rekindle allure

It's yet a time to rise up in wisdom

To the youths of Nigeria I give it

To our mothers and fathers I say

Turn not your love from your children

Never abandon the salvation call

Nigeria on her way to being saved

Let Nigerians now think along this;

We shall henceforth produce

We shall turn our strength away

From consumption to production

Let this be our new creed and song

This is a sound of peace and unity

And the wind of greatness blows

Nigeria shall be great again

Nigeria shall be greater in our time

Rise up oh Compatriots!

It's a time to be sure ours counts

In our decision to rebuild Nigeria

It's our collective resolve that matters

From the ruins of this land

Its greatness beckons a new dawn

Don't let Nigeria down

Don't sell this land for anything

Don't disappoint this age of hope

Don't faint or falter

Let your choice say the world

Let your choice support our newness

Let your thumb speak strength

Let it loud integrity as the resolve

Let's build a better Nigeria for all

The journey has just begun

We're moving right away

Our departure is from consumption

Our destination is to production

Greater tomorrow; greater generation
