BBNaija REALITY SHOW, THE PHILOSOPHY OF WEALTH AND THE CHALLENGE FOR YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS IN NIGERIA. Written by KEMKA S. IBEJI

Many will say and have said that BBNaija is useless and not profitable for anything and to anybody. I was also roundly abused by someone who has no understanding of what wealth creation is here. I didn't feel bad about his vituperations as much as I felt horribly stunned by his utter ignorance of the business idea from the program.

I didn't watch that show as every other person did. I watched it a few times in passing and paid detailed attention to the business angle of it. I followed the business teachings of the BBNaija and will get back to it for confirmation of my findings.

Of course, no two persons see the same thing in the same way. Many people watched the TV Show for different purposes but I wasn't against anybody for his or her passion. Passion is so personal to dabble into. Though we can weigh every action on the scale of morality, but the business morality one such different purview. It may not follow the ethics of ordinary behaviors. I know the difference between the two anyway and so wasn't perturbed by quibbles from such quarters bereft of epistemic deposits.

I wrote a book chapter in a book published in 2016 titled CHRONICLES IN ZION and the title of the book chapter I contributed is THE PHILOSOPHY OF WEALTH. In that article, I reinvented the commonplace axiom of wealth creation. That is, "if you want to be rich or wealthy, find a problem to solve". Almost all wealthy people know this law of wealth and riches.

But you could ask yourself what problem the BBNaija TV Show was solving for Nigerians. Did it actually solve any problem for Nigeria that can warrant its sweeping of approximately Eight Billion Naira (#8,000,000,000.00) into the purse of the business owners?

In Nigeria today, I assure you that almost every Nigerian is searching for something that can make him or her forget about the hardship or the social pains that Nigeria has been enmeshed in by the ruling class. Nigerians need anything that can make them smile even in the midst of severe economic and political pains. Nigerians are eager to have any little respite from the everyday bickering and arguments about the issues of government and governance in Nigeria.

Besides, the death rate has heightened, more sick people are visiting the medics on cardiac or heart health issues. Nobody wants to die and any little smile on your face goes deep into the heart. This is what BBNaija has come with.

Apart from taking minds and concentration away from the government and its failures and worries about poor leadership around, the TV Show has other benefits according to the persons in the audience. These are a huge market. The business owners of the BBNaija concept understand this clearly and were ready, willing and able to utilize the window. They swept in some billions of Naira in just 90 days.

But my concern is not on the distractions or the entertainment but the facts and figures especially as it relates to wealth created in the program.

Today, BBNaija brand is a household name. It brought in other businesses from Automobile industry, Banking industry, Telecommunications industry, Food industry, Fashion industry, Entertainment industry, Research industry, Education sector, Manufacturing industry, and much more. In fact, many of the businesses attracted to the show sincerely funded the most part of the package. But someone is busy asking what is the need to consider such a business that rakes in over 8 Billion Naira in just 90 days. Come on!

For me, I will restudy my considerations within the frame I understudied the business package and draw strength from its wisdom for my business. My concern will be on the play of technology in the entire show and its business angle.

The interplay of Technology + Mass market and its attendant benefits will occupy my study of the BBNaija Reality Show. It has a lot of hidden information for young entrepreneurs who want to impact the business world.

Dangote in all his businesses and his utter enjoyment of government patronage would have been challenged by the business idea of the BBNaija concept. And remember that the wealth of the new world does not live in bulky struggles like the one engaged by the richest African whose trucks hum all streets of Africa per minute.

Just like philosophy will teach us to pay attention to details, it believes that there is sense in every nonsense.

I am,
KEMKA S. IBEJI
