WHAT YOU SHOULD TELL SOLUDO FOR NIGERIANS Written by KEMKA S. IBEJI

I just engaged myself to reading the trending response of Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, the Governor of Anambra State, on the social media reactions to his earlier conversation on Channels TV. Empty as it sincerely is, I can tell you that Soludo is lost in the streams of his hate, bitterness and envy.

He was all out to disdain his kinsman and I think the motive is not far fetched. His accusing Mr. Peter Obi for unleashing social media attacks on him or anyone that is against him is so unfounded as nobody can be ascribed with the powers of controlling the wind. What is happening in Nigerian political space at the moment is a torrential response of the people to their environment. A classical expression of being organisms and more to it humans who respond to stimulus.

Painfully, the professor turned politician chose his words carelessly. If also Prof. Soludo could refer to the angst of the masses and their whims to redirect the leadership of Nigeria from misgovernance and maladministration to a system that does better for her citizenry as derogatory desperation, I now can clearly tell you that the man is lost. He has left the masses and now living in the dangerous lonely world where our political class have always eloped with the mandate of the populace. He now sees the people as the other. What a way to change in a very short time. But trust them, he will pay a visit in four years. Do not worry!

Chukwuma Soludo has done himself a dangerous damage in taking jabs at ndị Igbo and attempting to reduce them. On trying to blackmail and push aside the national crave for President Peter Obi of Nigeria in 2023 as an Igbo agenda of his nzogbu nzogbu allusion, that is a failure from first step. Just like one of the consistent corner in the "Laws of Power" by Robert Green, every action in the game of power has a backfire effect. This Soludo's ill intended outing also has its backfire effect and that is the fact that it has clearly shown the world of Nigerians and keen watchers that Peter Obi's candidacy is not an Igbo agenda; it is a national movement created by national feelings and prayers for a better Nigeria.

The game of power unfortunately is rich in treachery and mischief, and the dash of misgivings by Prof. Chukwuma Soludo is part of it. The self-felt smart Soludo's only and selfish interest in all he tried to do in his verbose response is to unreasonably rebuild the dead APGA with sacrificial blood of Peter Obi's rising national popularity. But since this is not actually working out for him, he is pretentiously out to do the capital wrong - destroy Peter Obi by all means possible. For every discerning mind, the logic of his entire writeup is that Peter Obi should come and lay his political arms so that he (Soludo) will prey on it for his own political vitamin. This is the game of power and we know it very well. I personally would not have bothered about this except that the man Chukwuma Soludo is now a pretender. I now see why he can live under the same political roof with Victor Oye who lies with the name of God Almighty and will quickly hold firm to the Ọfọ of Amadioha while dangling the Bible in his left arm. Shame!

Sadly and so true, it is an obvious cliché even in support of our intellectual surgery of the moment that a prophet is never known in his own land. But however that goes, the deserving promise of the 2023 Presidential Election for Nigerians should be focused on the competence, character, commitment and sway of the leadership to ensure that Nigeria begins an upwards movement from the great fall of 2015 - 2023 disastrous epoch. And for all the majority of Nigerians today, the shimmer of hope falls on Peter Obi hence their unmatched support so far.

Someone therefore should make a hurried journey to Agụ Awka, wake Prof. Chukwuma Soludo from his dreaded and deadly hallucinating slumber, and reinforce this information to him that the man he has chosen to hate, disparage and talk down on, Mr. Peter Obi, is the next President of Nigeria come 2023.
