HOW WELL TO BE A BAD OPPOSITION! Written by KEMKA S. IBEJI

It is sore pedestrian and preposterously childish to be quibbling about the dress of Mr. President than the substance and import of his visit to Imo State albeit Igbo land especially at this precarious time.

Though I seem to view the visit as ill timed, however the very concern of every reasonable child of Igbo race on this particular visit should be; what did he come to do?

Did he come for peace or to ridicule? Did he come with sincere goal or to mock the people of Imo State and Ndị Igbo?

Very important also is the utilization of the visit by the Ọhaneze Ndịgbo to press for the release and freedom of the Igbo youths and people held captive in all the facilities of the Federal and other governments in Nigeria at present. Major concern of every right thinking son and daughter of Igbo land should be how this message was passed to Mr. President and how he received it. Again, what are his responses to the requests and ambitions of the people who met with him on these notes?

If the only thing the opposition could find to discuss is the trousers flayed by wind and its dangling or colour and the army of frivolities I can see and read from them, then our people need serious attention to and on the people they have in opposition. If only those are all they find worthy to discuss, then they're unworthy to be opposition and never a possibly thinkable alternative anytime, any day soon.

As much as I hold our land and the inviolability of its people to heaven's heights, I dare say that I will never lose guard on any matter that tends to bring down the personality of the Igbo nation. However, it has become apparently important for our people to begin to reconsider the proper comparison between what they think or believe and what is real. Whoever therefore argues on the inconsequential shape of the trousers of Mr. President against the reason for his coming to Imo State even in defiance of the sit-at-home, ably obeyed by the people, is a bad blood that deserves our abandonment.

Please my people, why did Mr. Muhammadu Buhari come to Imo State today, 9th of September, 2021? What did he bring to Ndị Imo State and Ndị Igbo? What was the subject of his townhall meeting with the elders and leaders of our land? What did they request from him? How did he respond to them? Can we wait to see the possible concurrence between his words to the people and his actions afterwards?

Only when we are able to answer these questions can we be able to say of either the utility or futility of this September visit by the August visitor; President Muhammadu Buhari.
